The purpose of this interactive online course is to teach the basic layout of overhead distribution systems, to explain how to identify circuits and equipment in the field, and to introduce delta- and wye-connected distribution systems. The basic theory underlying the operation of delta and wye systems is presented, and the differences between them are discussed.

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to describe the basic layout of an overhead distribution system and identify circuits and equipment in the field. They should understand the basic characteristics of delta and wye systems and should be able to identify delta and wye circuits in the field. They should also understand the importance of identifying whether a system is connected delta or wye before any work is performed.
