Overhead Troubleshooting, Part 2 is designed to familiarize participants with some of the basic principles associated with troubleshooting overhead electrical systems during emergency conditions. Particular attention is paid to the differences between troubleshooting during emergency conditions and troubleshooting during normal conditions, and to the manner in which communications are handled. T o gain maximum advantage from this course, participants should have a basic understanding of the components and operation of an overhead electrical system, and they should have completed the Overhead Troubleshooting, Part 1 course. Participants without this prior training may require additional explanation or instruction.
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to identify basic differences between troubleshooting under emergency conditions and troubleshooting under normal conditions, and describe basic preparations and safety precautions associated with troubleshooting under emergency conditions. They should also be able to explain why a communications center is needed during emergency conditions and how communications to and from the communications center are handled. The participants should also be able to describe how repairs to problems encountered during troubleshooting are prioritized during emergency situations.
