The purpose of this course is to teach the basic principles of operation of three commonly used types of hydraulic hand tools: breakers, pole pullers, and tamps. The course also presents some of the basic principles of hydraulics and shows how these principles apply to the operation of a hydraulic power system.

At the conclusion of this course, participants should have a basic understanding of how hydraulic breakers, pole pullers, and tamps operate. They should be able to identify the basic external and internal parts of the tools and explain their functions. They should also know the safety precautions that are applicable to using hydraulic hand tools on a job.
